Don’t want to upgrade to Windows 10? Want to stop the forced upgrade?

As surprising as it is, Microsoft has been forcing an upgrade to Windows 10 recently. This has been met with everything from happiness that one is getting the current version of Windows for free, to abject frustration that something is being foisted on you that you do not want.

If you fall into the latter camp, and you’re lucky enough to have caught the notification that you’ll be upgraded — but you don’t want to — use the following GWX Control Panel to stop the upgrade process before it happens: http://blog.ultimateoutsider.com/2015/08/using-gwx-stopper-to-permanently-remove.html

Once you have accepted the terms and it is running, click the two buttons:

  • Click to Disable Windows 10 Icon
  • Click to Prevent Windows 10 Upgrades

…and you’re done.
